United States vice-captain Kevin Kisner has revealed what shocked him in the lead-up to the 2024 Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal.

Jim Furyk’s 12-man team bounced back from a disappointing Friday session to cruise to a tenth successive Presidents Cup victory.

Furyk’s picks were criticised before the event, but the 54-year-old’s bold decisions were justified after Keegan Bradley sealed the winning point.

Kisner has now explained just how detailed Furyk’s decision-making was before the event.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Smylie Show, Kisner admitted he was shocked by the amount of work which went on behind the scenes.

“I never dreamed about how much time, effort and work we would put into it that we did. Not that we didn’t want to, I was just shocked by how many hours we spent on the process,” Kisner explained. “From a second point of view, I was blown away by how prepared Jim was.

“Obviously, he’s had tonnes of experience with captaincy. He basically told us what was going to happen two weeks in advance.”

Kisner made headlines at the Presidents Cup after being involved in an altercation with Camilo Villegas during the first day’s play.

Jim Furyk’s Presidents Cup gameplan paid off at Royal Montreal Golf Club

Despite being criticised before the event, Furyk deserves credit for how he held his nerve. It would’ve been easy for the American to rip up his plans after Friday’s 5-0 clean sweep.

Instead, the 54-year-old remained calm and in complete control, knowing that his pre-tournament plans would pay off.

What’s more, watching Furyk up close would’ve been invaluable for Bradley ahead of next year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Bradley impressed in Quebec and will be well aware of the task ahead as he looks to win back the famous trophy from Luke Donald’s Europe.
