Justin Thomas is off to a fast start at the 2024 ZOZO Championship at Accordia Narashino Golf Club in Japan.
The American carded a four-under 66 to sit three shots back of leader Taylor Moore.
Starting on the tenth, Thomas made three birdies on his first nine before picking up two more shots coming in.
Thomas loves the ZOZO Championship course, and the two-time major winner appears to be in good shape as he hunts for his first victory of the year.

Thomas spent time away from the course after missing out on the USA Presidents Cup team, and the American has admitted he’s working on feeling more comfortable when putting himself in contention regularly.
“I mean, overall, the process is week by week, but of course, I have goals,” Thomas told Sky Sports.
“It’s just putting myself in contention more often and continuing to work on the right things. I feel like I have done a really good job of that in the past few months, and I am playing really well. I am so excited to come here, and I just feel comfortable.”
Thomas continued: “It’s more when I get in those moments, feeling really comfortable because it is nerve-wracking, and it is normal to be nervous, but it’s having the confidence to know that I can get it done that has differed over the years.”
Consistency key for Justin Thomas in 2025
Thomas will be desperate to put four good rounds together at this week’s ZOZO Championship.
Too often in 2024, the American has started fast only to fall away during the latter stages of an event, The Open and Scottish Open being two good examples.
Thomas was leading at Royal Troon after the first day, only to nearly miss the cut after a nightmare second round.
Thomas is one of the biggest names in Japan this week, and some high-profile names struggled during the opening round. World number two Xander Schauffele is three over after making a quadruple bogey on the ninth hole, and Sahith Theegala is also at the same number.
Max Homa, who is making his first appearance since Royal Montreal, is three over after carding a 73. Defending champion Collin Morikawa faired slightly better, starting his week with a one-under 69.
