Justin Thomas returns to the course this week as the PGA Tour heads to Japan for the ZOZO Championship.

The event at Narashino Country Club is part of the FedEx Cup fall, a stretch of the season during which players jostle for position inside the top 125.

Thomas has been practicing in Florida after finishing T14 at the season-ending Tour Championship. Despite ending the season relatively well, Thomas was snubbed for the Presidents Cup.

The two-time major winner will be looking forward to returning to action in Japan, and Thomas has been blown away by the course at the ZOZO Championship.

The 31-year-old is playing at Narashino Country Club for the first time in five years, and Thomas likes what he’s seen so far during his practice rounds.

“It’s quite a bit different [from five years ago] just because it’s not underwater for a start,” Thomas said.

“This course is in unbelievable shape. It feels like not a blade of grass is out of place. The fairways have a bit of run to them.”

The American continued, “The greens are very, very fast. I see the forecast has gotten a little bit, so knock on wood; hopefully, it will stay like that. We will get some great weather this week, and the course is really, really going to play nicely.”

Thomas isn’t the only big name who has made the trip across the Pacific this week.

World number two Xander Schauffele is back in action for the first time since the Presidents Cup, as is home favourite Hideki Matsuyama.

Max Homa and defending champion Collin Morikawa are also in Japan. Morikawa cruised to victory in 2023, and the American believes it’s important for some of the world’s best players to play international events.

“We play so much in the U.S. that when we have these opportunities to play internationally and play in a country that I love and have respect for, it’s very significant,” Morikawa said.

For the first time in months, some of the world’s best players are going head-to-head, and fans in Japan and around the world will anticipate a close finish at Narashino Country Club.
