Jordan Spieth is a man on the road to recovery for 2025 after taking the decision to go under the knife to sort out a long-term wrist issue.

Spieth confirmed last week that he’d had surgery to repair a wrist injury that has plagued his entire 2024 season.

The three-time major winner has had a bit of a disastrous year and in the main, he’s attributed that form to the wrist injury he’s been struggling with.

In good news though, Spieth has since confirmed that his doctor seemed thrilled by how surgery had gone and the focus is very much on the recovery stage now.

Spieth has also admitted that he’s been boosted by fellow pros suggesting his injury will soon be a thing of the past and looking forward, he has reason to be positive.

However, glancing back at the 2024 season, there have been some tough times for Spieth to digest.

And speaking about his season, the American has admitted there was even a time in July when he considered calling it quits.

Jordan Spieth admits he nearly quit the season before the John Deere Classic

Speaking about his injury issues in quotes run by Golf Digest, Spieth admitted that he was very much touch and go at points in the season.

So much so, that he very nearly called time on his season as far back as July.

“There was one day, it was the Friday of John Deere this year where I actually texted Michael like, ‘Hey man, it came out last night, it hasn’t gone back in overnight, and I can’t do this. I gotta go get this thing fixed now,’” he said.

“So that Friday of the John Deere, I was calling it quits actually. It was an afternoon tee time and I actually ended up getting to the range about 15 minutes before my time cause I finally got it in and just said let’s just see what happens here this week, and then I can reassess after if I play through the Open or whatever.”

Spieth won’t want to follow Tiger Woods path

While this is a wrist injury and should have been solved by the surgery here, there’ll be an element of Spieth that is looking to the future and if he’ll ever be the same.

The 31-year-old very much still has time on his side in terms of adding more majors to his already impressive resume.

But Spieth will know that the longer he goes without winning, the harder it becomes to get back into the swing of things.

Rory McIlroy is another example of a top player struggling to win majors again, while Spieth will also be wary of Tiger Woods and the injuries he’s had that have halted him.

Spieth, then, will very much be hoping to get back to his brilliant best soon.
