During a brief radio appearance on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio [quotes by CBS], Spieth explained he’s looking forward to forgetting about the issue after speaking to several PGA Tour pros.
“I’m not blaming everything on it, but there was something there that just made me not me,” Spieth explained. “And so hopefully, I come back from this, and I just don’t have to think about it. I know that may not be the case the first few months I get back into it.
“But from what I hear, I talked to a lot of different players who’ve had similar operations and a lot of guys across different sports, and they’re like, ‘Look, one day you’ll wake up and, if you’re patient enough, you do the right rehab, you listen to your docs and you take your time, there’ll be one day where you wake up and you’re like, ‘Man, I just totally forgot that there was ever an issue.’ So I look forward to that day.”
Jordan Spieth back to his best would be great for the game of golf
Spieth’s burst onto the scene back in 2015 was explosive and captured the imagination of fans around the world.
His golf during the early part of his PGA Tour career was reminiscent of some of the game’s greats, particularly his clutch putting.
Spieth’s work with the flat stick has never drastically declined, so if this surgery can cure his longer game, there’s reason to be optimistic.
With five months till the new season starts, the American has ample time to return to fitness and ensure he’s match-ready for the 2025 campaign.
