Jon Rahm seems to have become one of the more polarising figures in golf in recent times and he’s now made another decision that will go down badly among the golf masses.
Rahm’s move to LIV Golf for around $500m was not well-received by some in golf, especially after the Spaniard consistently tried to suggest his motive was ‘growing the game’.
Of course, Rahm’s move to LIV has worked out for him. He won the individual championship while his Legion XIII Team also had some success.
Still, Rahm’s opinions in general haven’t always gone down well and it wasn’t too long ago that Rahm angered golf fans by trying to plot a way back to the PGA Tour.
And now, in another move which will annoy golf fans in Europe, Rahm has made a big call ahead of the Race to Dubai finale next week.

Jon Rahm not playing in Race to Dubai finale
According to a report from Golf Magic, which cites a source on the DP World Tour, Rahm has not registered to play in the season ending event next week.
Instead, Rahm has opted out and will keep his DP World Tour and Ryder Cup eligibility having played in three events and the Olympics this year.
The call from Rahm will likely anger fans over in Europe who will feel Rahm is passing up on a big chance to win Ryder Cup points.
It suggests that Rahm is confident of being selected no matter how he is playing and where is ranked, which will effectively comes across as cocky to some.
Fellow European star Ludvig Aberg is also not playing, albeit the Swede has been suffering with injury.
Rahm’s reputation in golf is getting worse
There’s no doubting Jon Rahm has done a few things in 2024 that have really called into question certain hallmarks in his character.
Sure, he is an excellent golfer and one of the best around when on song.
But Rahm was slammed by golf fans for missing the LIV Dallas event with an illness, while Rahm also pulled out of the US Open due to a toe injury.
Furthermore, Rahm has also kicked up a stink about his DP World Tour fines and as yet, has not reached an amicable conclusion.
Rahm, then, faces more criticism here for pulling out of a flagship event when in reality, he really should be coming to play to showcase the event and himself.
