Jon Rahm has pulled out of the LIV Golf team finale event in Dallas this weekend in a major blow to his Legion XIII team.

After Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton confirmed they were picking to play against Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers in the semi-final, it’s now been explained that Rahm himself will not be taking part.

The Spaniard is said to be out of the tournament with flu-like symptoms and on the advice of doctors, is not taking part.

John Catlin will be his replacement, as Legion XIII look to follow up on a fine season in 2024 by winning the ultimate team prize on offer.

Of course, for LIV Golf, it is a major blow to have one of their top players not competing in their flagship end of season event.

However, for Rahm, while it will be a personal blow, it’s also not the first time he’s pulled out of something this year with what some might suggest is a minor problem.

Rahm pulled out of the US Open with a toe problem which caused talking points at the time.

And over on social media, Rahm is once again being called out for what some suggest is him simply not being committed and taking his money and running.

Golf fans not impressed with Jon Rahm’s latest injury issue

As always, social media can be a brutal platform and it seems Rahm’s latest problem has not gone down well with the golf masses over on X.

Plenty of them have logged on to voice their dismay at Rahm’s latest pull-out.

And some are not holding back one bit in their assessments of the Spaniard and the current situation.

Another fan, @Thompson_Iain suggested that Rahm’s withdrawal showed that the players don’t care too much.

“Yet again this shows how they don’t really care and there is no jeopardy.”

While another golf fan, @MarkMcD33489186, followed that trend, suggesting Rahm is a ‘joke’ for pulling out.

“So the “Super Bowl of golf championships” has an alternate to fill in for one of its players. It’s a joke exactly like the Liv exhibition league.”

While @mikeguanci suggested Rahm will simply be sat at home counting his money!

Great season for him. Home counting the benjamins.

And taking things further, @BadHombre3 suggested Rahm has a bit of an issue with playing in Texas.

“I am beginning to think that Rahm has a problem with Texas. First he withdraws from LIV Houston and now LIV Dallas. WTF?”

It’s worth adding that, for some balance at least, that there was some who seemed disappointed not to be seeing Rahm and sent their well-wishes.

But in the main, this looks like another PR own goal for Rahm after a season where he’s become a more and more divisive figure as time ticks by.
