Joaquin Niemann has been tearing it up on LIV this season, but he has admitted that he is in awe of one PGA Tour player who he says can challenge Scottie Scheffler.
It’s such a shame that the PGA Tour and LIV have still been unable to reach an agreement when it comes to a possible merger.
Joaquin Niemann left the PGA Tour to join LIV in August 2022, and during his absence, Scottie Scheffler has absolutely dominated.
At the time, it was a huge surprise to see Neimann switch ranks, given his age and quite unbelievable talent. He has already won four times on LIV, and is extremely fancied to win The Masters this year.

Joaquin Niemann has been tipped to win 10 majors throughout his career.
He is undoubtedly a sensational talent, but it’s very clear that he has huge admiration for one of his peers playing on the PGA Tour right now.
Joaquin Niemann convinced Ludvig Aberg could challenge Scottie Scheffler
Alongside Niemann, Ludvig Aberg is one of the most talented young players in the game.
The 25-year-old seemingly has it all.
However, it has been suggested that Ludvig Aberg may not have the mentality and hunger required to reach the highest echelons of the game, somewhat unfairly so in all honesty.
Niemann clearly doesn’t subscribe to that theory.
The Chilean was asked if there is anything about Aberg that makes him jealous:
“How quick he is.“
Niemann then responded when asked what Aberg needs to do to become the world number one:

“Him? I think he has everything. He’s like a really, really complete player. He has a really good and really consistent swing. That really pays off when you’re under pressure. Yeah, he has everything to be world No. 1.“
And finally, Niemann responded to a reporter who asked him if the big Swede has any weaknesses.
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen him play that much. I only played with him once. I feel like everybody struggles sometimes in a few aspects of their game. From what I’ve seen from him, he’s a really solid player all the way.“
Scottie Scheffler a level above Ludvig Aberg
Despite what Niemann said, Scheffler is still a long way clear of Aberg right now.
The 28-year-old Texan is peerless in the game right now.
Rory McIlroy is the only player who can get close to Scottie on his day.
That’s not to say that Ludvig Aberg won’t reach Scheffler’s level one day, but Joaquin Niemann may be waiting for a while before his prediction comes true.
