Ian Poulter is the latest player to reveal his favourite ever golf course, and the Englishman has delivered a different answer to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Woods and McIlroy both love the Old Course at St Andrews and have previously praised the uniqueness of golf’s ancestral home.
Brooks Koepka’s favourite venue is also the Old Course, and the LIV Golf star made the trip to Scotland’s east coast to compete in the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Elsewhere, Jack Nicklaus claims Pebble Beach is where he will play his last-ever round.
Clearly, the world’s great players have great taste in golf courses; they are, of course, the ones fortunate enough to play them.
Ian Poulter’s favourite ever course
In a recent video shared by Majesticks GC, Poulter was asked to pick between multiple courses until he found his number one venue.
After choosing St Andrews over multiple iconic courses, the Englishman then decided he would rather play Royal Birkdale over the Old Course.
Poulter then persisted with Royal Birkdale, picking the Liverpool venue over TPC Sawgrass. However, when Augusta National pitched as a rival, Poulter named the Masters venue as his favourite course.

Why is Royal Birkdale Ian Poulter’s second favourite course?
Poulter’s love of Birkdale stems back to the 2008 Open Championship. The Englishman finished runner-up to Padraig Harrington in Liverpool on plus-seven.
The Irishman ended the week three over, in what was one of the highest-scoring Open’s ever seen. Amazingly, Greg Norman, who finished tied third, ended the week nine over.
Persistent rain, strong winds and cold temperatures made the 2008 Open one of the toughest in the competition’s treasured history.
As for Poulter, his 2008 performance marks his best-ever major championship performance. Elsewhere, he placed third in the 2012 PGA Championship and tied for sixth in the 2015 Masters.
