Golf coach and YouTuber Andy Carter has shared another name he heard alongside Adrian Meronk who could soon be on his way to LIV Golf from the DP World Tour.
It comes with Tommy Fleetwood reportedly rejecting LIV’s advances. But he may not be the last to join the breakaway.
Adrian Otaegui linked with LIV Golf return
Speculation that Tyrell Hatton will go refuses to go away. And it seems that Adrian Otaegui could be another.
The 31-year-old previously played for LIV during the 2022 season. And he hit the headlines after becoming the first LIV player to then win on the DP World Tour when he clinched the Andalucia Masters title in November 2022.
Otaegui was dropped by LIV ahead of the 2023 season. But if what Carter has heard is correct, it appears that he will be returning to the tour ahead of this coming campaign. He is playing this week at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
Mixed feelings for DP World Tour as defection speculation continues
Meronk is certainly looking set to be the headline name to move at the start of this year. Obviously, that comes after Jon Rahm confirmed that he was moving towards the end of 2023.
Rahm is the massive coup for the Saudis. And Meronk looks set to have a fantastic career ahead of him. But as things stand, you get the feeling that they may have hoped to follow Rahm with another superstar name.
Landing Hatton would be huge. But while his future remains up in the air, the DP World Tour may feel that the news at the beginning of 2024 could have been a lot worse.
However, they will know that writing anything off in the sport right now is incredibly dangerous.
