The sporting world witnessed a momentous occasion this weekend as Rory McIlroy finally won The Masters, and it will have taken his career prize money to astronomical levels, too.
Rory McIlroy put himself, pundits, and golf fans through the wringer over the last four days at Augusta National, going from a disappointing first round, to leading on the final day, before missing a golden opportunity and having to compete in a play-off with Justin Rose.
He clinched the win in the end, though. A perfect drive, exquisite approach shot, and a clutch putt at the last was enough to seal a birdie on his second attempt at hole 18, and you could see the relief in McIlroy’s reaction as he finally ended years of hurt to clinch the career grand slam.
McIlroy has now been tipped to win many more majors, since the pressure is off him to a degree. If he does, he will undoubtedly go down as one of the very greatest golfers of all time, and he will also become an unfathomably rich man, too.

How much did Rory McIlroy earn from Masters win?
Rory McIlroy became only the sixth golfer to complete the career grand slam, and only the second in the last 59 years, which is an incredible feat in itself.
But, as well as the prestigious green jacket, McIlroy earns several benefits for his win at Augusta. Most notably, he picked up a pretty prize fund.
The win at The Masters earned McIlroy an eye-watering $4.2m as part of the $20m purse on offer for the tournament.
That takes his earnings this season alone to a massive $13,257,558 after just six events on the PGA Tour so far in 2025.

Rory McIlroy’s career earnings to date
Prior to The Masters 2025, McIlroy had joined Tiger Woods in the $100m club, having surpassed Phil Mickelson this season to become the second-highest earner in the game of golf.
He’s now closing the gap on Tiger, too. McIlroy has now won $104,246,906 over the course of his incredible career, with five major victories and 29 tour wins in total.
Tiger Woods may still have a healthy cushion at the top of that particular ranking, with just over $120m in career earnings, but with McIlroy seemingly playing better than ever and having dispelled his Masters demons, we could see many, many more wins to come.
| Season | Tour wins | Prize money |
| 2025 | 3 | $13.25m |
| 2024 | 2 | $10.89m |
| 2023 | 2 | $13.92m |
| 2022 | 3 | $8.65m |
| 2021 | 1 | $4.39m |
| 2020 | 1 | $4.41m |
| 2019 | 3 | $7.78m |
| 2018 | 1 | $4.41m |
| 2017 | 0 | $2.43m |
| 2016 | 2 | $5.79m |
| 2015 | 2 | $4.86m |
| 2014 | 3 | $8.28m |
| 2013 | 0 | $1.80m |
| 2012 | 4 | $8.04m |
| 2011 | 1 | $1.95m |
| 2010 | 1 | $2.55m |
Incredibly, this season is already McIlroy’s second most lucrative, and he’s not even halfway through the tour. It is almost certain that, whatever he does in his next outing, he will surpass the $13.92m earned in 2023 now.
Of course, there is a lot more money in the game these days. You only have to look at McIlroy’s four tour wins in 2012 and the disparity in the earnings there ($8.04m) compared to what he has gained from this year’s three wins.
Still, we’re pretty sure that it’s not about the money for Rory, given his point-blank refusal to even think about joining the LIV Golf world. And now that he’s got that elusive green jacket in his wardrobe, there’ll be nothing he cares about more.
