Tiger Woods will return to the course at next weekend’s PNC Championship alongside his son, Charlie.

The 15-time major winner hasn’t played a competitive round since The Open after undergoing yet another back surgery.

Woods’ withdrawal from the Hero World Challenge sparked much speculation about when he could return to action. The 48-year-old, however, shared an update during his pre-tournament media duties.

“I am still not there. These are 20 of the best players in the world. I’m not tournament-sharp… I’m not sharp enough to compete at this level.” Woods said. “I need to keep training to give myself the best chance at competing next year.”

“When I am ready to compete and play at this level, then I will.”

The PNC Championship has always remained a possibility for Woods, with the American allowed to use a golf cart to play alongside Charlie.

Now, with Tiger set to tee it up in Orlando, Greg Norman Jr believes he and his father should’ve received an invite and be paired alongside Woods and his son.

“If they really wanted to shake things up and cause a buzz, they should have invited us to the PNC and paired us with Tiger and Charlie,” Norman wrote.

“Mend the fences. Show unity. Mic us up. Have some fun. Celebrate family and the game, right?

Who else is playing in PNC Championship?

With Woods now confirmed to play at Ritz-Carlton GC, let’s see who else is set to compete in the unique family-orientated event.

Padraig Harrington will join Paddy next week. John Daly will compete alongside his talented son, John Daly II.

Some legendary major championship winners will also be in the field, including Mark O’Meara, Gary Player, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo and Vijay Singh. World number one Nelly Korda will also play alongside her father, Petr.

As Woods ramps up his recovery, his participation in this week’s event can only be positive. Clearly, the 15-time major winner is at a stage where swinging the club is possible, but making it around 72 holes of tournament action is not.

It’s a small step in the right direction ahead of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
