Tiger Woods is once again out of action after undergoing yet more surgery on his troublesome back.

15-time major winner Woods managed his four major appearances in 2024 but made the cut just once, at The Masters.

Over the season, Woods looked more and more uncomfortable and it remains to be seen if he’ll commit to those majors again in 2025.

As we know, Colin Montgomerie got into a mini spat with Woods when he suggested he call it a day.

Woods, of course, fired back at Montgomerie at the time and insisted he’d be playing for as long as he could.

Woods has now released a statement saying he has undergone more surgery on his back in a bid to fix back spasm problems and that he’s already embarking on rehab to get back to playing again.

However, with Woods set to be part of the inaugural TGL launching in January, there are now question marks over whether he’ll be able to fulfil those duties.

Tiger Woods return date set after latest surgery setback

Luckily for those looking forward to the TGL and for golf in general, it looks like this surgery won’t keep him out for too long if all goes to plan.

According to golf journalist Josh Carpenter, Woods is expected to make a swift recovery on this one and the expectation is that he’ll e available for the TGL launch in January.

Woods has had troubles with his back over the course of his career and coupled with the issues with his legs as well, it makes playing high level golf hard.

The 15-time major winner has resisted calls to join the Champions Tour just yet and there is a feeling that he wants to push for one more win on the PGA Tour if he can.

Quite whether this latest back problem helps or hinders that push, remains to be seen.
