Mike Weir’s Presidents Cup team is complete, and many golf fans are making the same LIV Golf suggestion after seeing the International side.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Min Woo Lee, Taylor Pendrith, and Si Woo Kim have joined the six automatic qualifiers ahead of the event at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

The eagle-eyed would’ve noticed there’s not one LIV Golf star in Mike Weir’s plans, and golf fans are making the same LIV suggestion after the International Team was finalised.

Golf fans want Cam Smith, Joaquin Niemann and Louis Oosthuizen on the Presidents Cup team

After Weir’s announcement, golf fans took to social media to vent their frustration at the lack of LIV players, with Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, and Louis Oosthuizen the main omissions.

“No LIV – not worth watching,” this fan wrote, while another added, “What about Nick Taylor or Joaquin Nieman? Both those players deserve the consideration.”

This fan didn’t hold back after seeing Weir’s team. “Disgrace no Cam Smith, Oosty, or Niemann,” they wrote. Another added: “Cam Smith?”

“Would be so much stronger with Smith Louis and burméster,” another fan said. “What a terrible list of players. Really miss the LIV alphas carrying these betas,” this fan also remarked.

Finally, this fan said: “No, Cam Smith, Niemmann or Louie is crazy, but still a good team. Automatic loss, though.”

Why LIV Golf players haven’t been selected for the Presidents Cup team

Despite fans demanding Bryson DeChambeau on the USA team, there won’t be one LIV Golf player on either side in Montreal.

The qualifying criteria set by both teams exclude LIV Golf players. The newly established system stipulates that all 24 players must be eligible to compete in PGA Tour-sanctioned events during the 2024 season.

Therefore, DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, and Dustin Johnson are all ineligible. However, with talks between the PGA Tour and PIF progressing, there’s every chance the criteria will change once again in the near future.
