DP World Tour player rejects LIV Golf offer as rumours continue over Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia’s new teammates

The LIV Golf off-season is in full-swing right now as teams scramble to ensure they have the very best teams possible ahead of the 2025 season.

While it might feel like golf has just wrapped up for the season, the PGA Tour will get underway again in January while LIV Golf will kick off in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, in February.

For the LIV tour, it feels like another big year after momentum was built in 2024.

Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open win was one of the biggest sports stories of the year, while Jon Rahm’s signing and then dominance has also been a plus for the tour.

Of course, all eyes are now on the potential new faces we could see on LIV.

Jon Rahm wants a new face at Legion XIII, while Sergio Garcia confirmed that the Fireballs are also looking to replace Eugenio Chacarra.

But while Rahm and Garcia search for their new star, one man who won’t be joining them – or LIV for that matter – is another Spaniard, Angel Ayora.

DP World Tour starlet Angel Ayora rejects LIV Golf

According to Spanish media outlet TenGolf, young DP World Tour star Angel Ayora has rejected an offer to make the move to LIV Golf.

Specifically, it’s claimed that Ayora was offered a two-year contract to sign with Martin Kaymer and his Cleeks GC.

German star Kaymer is the captain of the Cleeks with Richard Bland, Adrian Meronk, and Finnish golfer, Kalle Samooja, making up the roster.

However, Samooja was relegated from LIV last season and so for now, the team is a three-man band.

There have also been claims the Cleeks could rebrand completely, which paves the way for new players to make the jump.

But for now, it looks like Ayora is not going to be following the money.

Who is Angel Ayora?

Angel Ayora is a Spanish golfer who plays on the DP World Tour and has only turned 20 just this year.

Ayora is yet to win a DP World Tour event and is down in the OWGR rankings at 243rd.

However, his age means he is very much one for the future and a big up and coming talent in the world of golf.

Ayora also impressed in 2024, ranking 25th for driving accuracy and quite remarkably, topping the leaderboard for average putts per round at 26.33 against a tour average of 29.05.

Clearly, then, Ayora is a star in the making but for now, he obviously wants to cut his teeth on the DP stage rather than chase the immediate riches over on LIV.
