LIV Golf has rocked the golf world over the last few years with huge sums of money and big names poached from the PGA Tour being key to its strategy.
Greg Norman has waged a mini war against the powers that be on the PGA side and has pinched the likes of Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau – among others – for the LIV tour.
Of course, one of the big drivers for many of these players was money. Jon Rahm was given a huge fee of around $450m just to sign, while other big sums have been handed out as well. Couple that with the prize money on offer for less golf, and it’s an attractive proposition.
However, with questions over the future of golf in general as the PGA and LIV try to hash out a deal, it seems that the powers that be within LIV could be set for an about turn.

Why LIV Golf plans could leave Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson in limbo
The Telegraph has published a report which dives into the future of PIF and with it, golf.
And writing about the plans for LIV and future contracts, the report suggests LIV are planning a change and that, in turn, could impact some big players.
“Notable LIV player contracts will start expiring next year and it will be intriguing to discover if it ponies up similar bounties as before.
“The word is that any up-front payments will be vastly reduced and if this is the case will heavyweights such as Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia hang around?”
Could LIV Golf players end up back on the PGA Tour?
There’s going to be quite the conundrum facing a few big name players if they do decide to move on from LIV Golf.
The PGA Tour has been steadfast in its approach to those who left in the first place. Rory McIlroy has spoken of the need for a deal but for the likes of Koepka, DeChambeau and others, they’d need to re-qualify for PGA Tour status if no deal is struck.
We’ve seen recently that Sergio Garcia paid his fines to get back on the DP World Tour. Whether something similar could be agreed between the bigger names, is open to debate.
Regardless, the world of golf remains a mess really and with LIV potentially pulling some of its funding, certain players face a compelling future.
