Cameron Smith was part of a winning formula during the 2024 LIV Golf season as Ripper GC clinched the Team Championship in Dallas.
Ripper won three team events and also finished runner-up twice, helping Smith’s side win the lucrative prize at Maridoe Golf Club.
Despite the success, Smith wants a fast start from Ripper in 2025 as the Aussie quartet look to go back-to-back.
Clearly, the 2022 Open Championship winner is enjoying himself on the breakaway venture, and Smith has now detailed two reasons why moving to LIV was the best decision of his life.
Cameron Smith pleased with LIV Golf decision

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Smith suggested that LIV Golf’s trajectory, coupled with the added downtime, made his decision to quit the PGA Tour one of the best he’s ever made.
“It was the best decision of my life,” said Smith.
“Not only from where the tour is going and where it will end up but also from a life standpoint as well. The extra time I get to spend in Australia compared to what I used to means a lot.
“I feel like I am a much happier person now compared to where I was before.”
Cameron Smith LIV Golf earnings shared
Smith pocketed a whopping $11.5 million from LIV Golf during the 2024 season. The Aussie team’s victory in Dallas saw them earn $14 million, which was then evenly split among the members.
On a personal note, Smith earned $1.875 million for his two runner-up finishes in Singapore and Hong Kong. Smith earned money for 13 out of 14 events last season, with Miami his only blank after withdrawing due to illness.
Of the players who decided to join LIV and jeopardise their PGA Tour future, Smith is arguably the one who’s feeling most comfortable with his decision.
And, given Ripper’s recent success, another cash-filled season could well be on the cards in 2025.
