LIV Golf rocked the golfing world three years ago when numerous high-profile players left the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed golf league.

Bryson DeChambeau was one of the pioneers who first jumped ship to LIV from the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau is currently bang in contention to win LIV Virginia, and he is undoubtedly one of the most marketable stars in world golf at the moment.

Phil Mickelson recently said it has been remarkable to see what LIV star DeChambeau has done for the game of golf globally.

It’s just a shame that we, as fans, don’t get to see him compete more regularly alongside the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

We are all hoping that the powers that be on both tours manage to reach some sort of agreement so that the best golfers can play against each other outside of the four majors.

However, it has been suggested that a LIV and PGA Tour merger will never happen.

So do we all just have to accept that LIV and the PGA Tour will simply have to co-exist, or is there hope of a more unified future in the game?

DeChambeau is the shining light on LIV.

There is a real argument to be made that the Saudi-backed outfit may not even have survived if they had failed to tempt him into joining.

But what does the 31-year-old two-time US Open champion think about the future of the game in general?

Back in January 2024, DeChambeau made a really bold prediction about the directions that LIV and the PGA Tour were heading.

“I think the deal is going to come quicker than you think,” DeChambeau said.

“It might not be the next couple of weeks. Maybe a month or so. But it’s going to happen. There’s no way around it now. This is about the good of the game for the fans. The health of the game for the fans.

“As time goes on, we’re starting to see these fans are hungry for us all to come back together. I can’t wait for that day to happen.

“What I could see is LIV integrating into the Signature Series on the PGA Tour in some capacity and having two championships in one, where you have the individual component in the Signature Series, and you have the team side of it,” he explained.

“You have the teams you’re playing for, so no matter what on that final day that guy that’s playing really bad still matters, it’s still a big deal on the team championship aspect of the tournament.

“Then you guys have the individual side that’s still competing for that individual title the way it is currently.”

Quite the prediction from DeChambeau, but unfortunately one that has proven to be well wide of the mark.

DeChambeau’s 2025 stats on LIV

The American has been one of the most dominant forces in world golf over the past couple of years.

He has competed extremely well in the majors, but his numbers on LIV look pretty good as well.

The next challenge for DeChambeau will be to start adding more majors to his collection.

He’s more than capable of winning many more between now and the end of his career.

And DeChambeau’s game is shaping up really nicely ahead of the US Open at Oakmont next week.
