Day one of LIV Golf Adelaide did not disappoint as the Aussie fans were treated to an iconic hole-in-one by Patrick Reed on the watering hole.

The Texan’s ace sparked wild scenes on the par-three as he became the second player to achieve the feat after Chase Koepka in 2023.

Another player who lapped in the atmosphere at the short hole was Bryson DeChambeau. The YouTube sensation has become one of the game’s most popular players, and the two-time US Open winner is four under after day one.

Despite being just two shots back of the lead, DeChambeau admitted his game felt slightly off on Friday.

When asked about his round, DeChambeau only gave himself a C and claimed he was missing the ball right far too often.

“It was a C,” the reigning US Open champ said.

“I hit some shots I was expecting to come off a little differently on the face, and I was just missing right today. If I didn’t miss it right today… shoulda, coulda, woulda, right? But I played some great golf in tough conditions and four under I will take any day out here.”

Majesticks GC’s Sam Horsfield leads the way at six under. Joaquin Niemann and Carlos Ortiz are tied for second at five under.

Strong leaderboard emerges at LIV Golf Adelaide

As well as DeChambeau, some big names have gathered near the top of the LIV Golf Adelaide leaderboard.

Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka is one shot back on three under. Koepka lauded the firm and fast conditions, and it appears the 34-year-old is well-suited to the course at The Grange.

Former Masters winner Dustin Johnson is four under after making six birdies on day one. Starting on the second, Johnson picked up shots on six, seven, nine and ten before recording back-to-back bogeys at 12 and 13.

The American, however, made two more birdies before finishing his round on the first hole. Elsewhere, Phil Mickelson, making his first LIV start of 2025, is level par.
