Love it or hate it, LIV Golf looks like it’s hear to stay and one of their star men, Bryson DeChambeau has been bigging up the product with some bold predictions.

LIV had one of its best ever weekends in Adelaide recently as the Australian crowds flocked to see local hero Cameron Smith lead his team to glory.

There were ‘Shoeys’ galore, huge reactions, and overall, a golfing experience not seen as yet in LIV or for that matter, on the PGA Tour.

Of course, the team element of LIV has caused plenty of discussion. The likes of Rick Shiels have recently suggested that it simply has to mean something to matter.

And building on that, one of LIV’s main players, DeChambeau, has suggested that things are only just getting going when it comes to LIV’s team aspect.

Bryson DeChambeau makes bold claim about LIV Golf and its team element

Speaking to the press ahead of LIV Singapore, in quotes transcribed by The Mirror, DeChambeau made a bold statement regarding the future of LIV and the team golf element.

“The future of LIV. We know it’s going to be here, bigger, badder and better than ever before. It’s just going to continue to keep growing over the next five to ten years,” DeChambeau said.

“I think the competition between the teams will get heightened. The rivalries will get heightened. There’s already some sort of rivalries going on right now, but as the years go on and people are going to win championships, that team championship at the end of the year last year like the Crushers did, I think there’s going to be a lot of rivalries to be produced that you’ll see, and it’s stories to be told I think will be pretty insane over the next five to ten years.”

LIV Golf is on the rise and they have to capitalise

There is absolutely no doubting the event in Australia brought more eyes to the LIV product than ever before.

The team element is something that hasn’t quite taken off as yet but we saw in Australia that if they can tie it in with the supporters, there’s room for something special there.

A few of the teams like Cam Smith’s Rippers and The Stingers (South Africa) already have the element of being a one-nation team and it will be interesting to see if LIV build on that.

DeChambeau does make a good point here in fairness. If, for example, one team dominates for a few seasons, that creates the story for someone to usurp them.

Those stories then sell tickets and TV deals, and ultimately, LIV should thrive.

In terms of turning points, the weekend in Adelaide definitely felt like the biggest one yet for LIV.
