Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka are set to face off against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in an eagerly anticipated LIV Golf vs PGA Tour match.

The LIV v PGA Tour showdown will take place on December 17 at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.

And Koepka and DeChambeau pairing up is particularly interesting.

The pair’s history dates back to 2019 when Koepka initially called out DeChambeau’s slow play. The back-and-forth continued for over two years before a viral clip of Koepka rolling his eyes at the 2021 PGA Championship saw the feud reach new heights.

Thankfully, the duo appear to have put their past behind them after Koepka posted a humorous message on X ahead of the upcoming match against McIlroy and Scheffler.

Now, another social media exchange has taken place.

Currently, LIV Golf events aren’t awarded OWGR points. As a result, several big names have fallen down the rankings.

DeChambeau is currently ninth in the OWGR, and Koepka is 65th. As a result, the 2024 US Open winner believes the LIV duo are the underdogs heading into the match.

“Hmm, I guess we’re the underdogs @BKoepka,” DeChambeau wrote. Koepka replied, “@b_dechambeau Always been.”

Rory McIlroy shares verdict on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka LIV Golf match

The upcoming match will undoubtedly attract large swathes of the golfing world, particularly with PIF and PGA Tour officials seeking to end the current divide.

McIlroy, however, has insisted this showdown has been put together by the players, with those on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf having no input.

“You’ve got the best player in the world,” McIlroy said. “You’ve got two guys in Bryson and Brooks that have won majors in the last two years. You’ve got me in there who, I haven’t done what those guys have done the last couple years, but I’ve definitely been I feel one of the best players in the world.”

The four-time major winner continued: “It’s a way to show golf fans in the world that this is what could happen or these are the possibilities going forward. I’ve been saying this for a long time: I think golf and golf fans get to see us together more than four times a year.”

Hopefully, the match in December will be a catalyst for the game of golf to finally reunite and end what has been a turbulent two years for the sport.
