Rory McIlroy is set to continue his busy schedule by taking part in a highly-anticipated PGA Tour versus LIV Golf clash.
McIlroy plans to shorten his schedule next year, but before 2025 rolls around he has decided to take on an intriguing 18-hole challenge.
The Northern Irishman will play alongside fellow PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler against LIV Golf aces Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
The exhibition match could ease tensions between the two tours, with the contest billed as ‘The Showdown’.
McIlroy and DeChambeau went head-to-head in a thrilling US Open battle earlier this year, with the latter coming out on top.

The former now has the chance for revenge against the American, with BBC Sport now reporting the exact date and venue for the match-up.
McIlroy and Scheffler will meet DeChambeau and Koepka at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, with the encounter set to take place on 17 December.

Golf fans are split on the PGA Tour-LIV match, which comes as discussions between the traditional tour and the the Saudi Arabian Investment Fund (PIF) continue.
McIlroy has been a strong advocate for a resolution, with the four-time major winner among many top stars who want an agreement as soon as possible.
It remains to be seen, however, when a deal will be reached between the rival tours, if one can be reached at all.

The format of the upcoming clash has not been formalised, but it is certain to draw plenty of attention from across the globe.
Las Vegas’ Shadow Creek is no stranger to such events, having hosted ‘The Match’ between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in 2018.
