The big match of 2024 has now been confirmed as Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka prepare to take on Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in an 18 hole shootout.

Four of the biggest names in golf will take centre stage at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas as the pairings look to get one up for their respective tours.

After so much back and forth between the LIV and PGA Tours in the last few years, the December showdown very much feels like a step in a right direction in terms of bringing things back together in the game of golf.

Of course, there’s plenty of attention and media hype around the event already and you’d imagine the next few months will see plenty of build up.

Naturally, the pairing of DeChambeau and Koepka is an interesting one.

The American duo have a bit of a history of not exactly being best friends but appear to have patched things up a bit since the LIV move.

And after DeChambeau posted confirmation on X that the event was indeed going ahead, Koepka responded in light-hearted fashion.

Taking to X to post his response to DeChambeau’s own update, Koepka needed just six words to show that the pairing are very much on the same page nowadays.

Las Vegas event will be serious business

While there might be an element of friendliness in the game when it happens, there is absolutely no doubt that all four players here will want to win.

For PGA stars McIlroy and Scheffler, they’ll be keen to show that they are very much the top dogs in golf and will be desperate to get one over the LIV guys.

DeChambeau and Koepka, meanwhile, will want to prove that being on LIV doesn’t take anything from their game and that they can indeed hang with the very best still.

As we know, DeChambeau won the US Open anyway this year so he’s more than proven himself again.

All in all, the match should draw plenty of attention and eyes and hopefully, be a progressive step in taking the game forward as a whole.
