Brandel Chamblee is an extremely outspoken critic of LIV Golf, there is no disguising that.
When numerous PGA Tour players switched allegiances to LIV Golf back in 2022, Brandel Chamblee was one of the Saudi-backed tour’s leading detractors.
Chamblee has claimed that a merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will ‘never get done’.
Phil Mickelson actually suggested recently that LIV Golf have a better product than the PGA Tour.
That claim from Mickelson is definitely up for debate.

However, what is clear is that golf fans deserve to see the best players in the world compete against one another more than just four times per season.
How will that ever happen though if LIV doesn’t have anything to offer PGA Tour players aside from a big payday?
Brandel Chamblee noticed something ‘ridiculous’ whilst watching LIV Miami
LIV held their fifth event of the season two weeks ago at Trump National Doral in Miami.
Marc Leishman took the spoils in the end, but many players had a chance to win heading into the final few holes, including the likes of Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzel.
Chamblee was not impressed one bit by something that he found to be ‘ridiculous’ during the closing stages of LIV Miami:
The former PGA Tour player was speaking on the Bret Boone podcast, and responded when asked how he sees LIV’s place in the golfing landscape right now:

“You’re watching LIV, and I’ve watched it. There’s no history and no legacy. They start on different holes. I was watching the event at Doral. Charl Schwartzel was trying to win and he finished on the first hole, he didn’t have to play 18 with the lead, it was just ridiculous.”
What one LIV Golfer said about The Masters would’ve angered Rory McIlroy
There’s no hiding the fact that there are tensions between the two rival factions in professional golf.
Last year, LIV Golf star Talor Gooch made a really contentious claim about The Masters:
“If Rory McIlroy goes and completes his (career) grand slam without some of the best players in the world, there’s just going to be an asterisk,” Gooch told Australian Golf Digest last year. “It’s just the reality. I think everybody wins whenever the majors figure out a way to get the best players in the world there.”
Whatever side of the divide you are on, surely everyone agrees that that was a bizarre claim from Gooch.
LIV Golf had some serious players in attendance at Augusta National last week, and none of them were able to better Rory McIlroy.
Brandel Chamblee must have absolutely loved that, what with his very open disdain for LIV Golf, and everything associated with it.
