Tyrrell Hatton produced his best result of the season at the US Open, finishing the major tournament in a three-way tie for fourth.
Hatton congratulated J.J. Spaun on his victory at Oakmont, with the Englishman finishing four shots behind the American.
Spaun had just one win on the PGA Tour before winning the US Open, which he did with a score of one-under.
Hatton, taking a brief pause from LIV Golf, ended his tournament three-over, level with Cameron Young and Carlos Ortiz.
He entered the tournament sitting 22nd in the LIV Golf individual standings, having finished T14 and T60 at The Masters and PGA Championship respectively.

Brandel Chamblee shares honest verdict on Tyrrell Hatton as a golfer
And his ability and indeed personality have now come under the spotlight on the Sky Sports Golf Podcast, on which Brandel Chamblee said: “I love watching him play.
“I love his antics. I don’t know him at all, I have been around him a little bit. I know people who know him quite well and they say he is a great guy.

“His antics may rub some people up the wrong way. But I always feel like he is just yelling at himself, as a player I think I would be entertained by it.
“I don’t know if it would be annoying to play with, but it is entertaining to watch! I love it. Overlooked, I think, is that does Tyrrell not flush it every time he hits it?”
Matt Wallace says what he thinks of Tyrrell Hatton’s ‘antics’ on the course
Hatton has undoubtedly caught the attention of golf fans for his behaviour on the course, which has at times overshadowed his ability.
From swearing to club throws, his temper has boiled over on occasion, but there is clearly a very talented golfer underneath it all.
And that is certainly the view of his fellow professional Matt Wallace, who followed on from Chamblee’s verdict.
Wallace, who finished T23 at the US Open, said of Hatton: “He has the straightest ball flight I have ever seen.
| Tournament | Position |
| Riyadh | T6 |
| Adelaide | T23 |
| Hong Kong | T20 |
| Singapore | T19 |
| Miami | T33 |
| Mexico City | T5 |
| Korea | T13 |
| Virginia | T15 |
“It waves a little bit left to right, it never really goes right to left, he can shape it a little bit that way. But a little bit left to right.
“And just on his antics. He is one of the best players to get the frustration out and do that and the next shot he is bang on it. It’s very much needed at the US Open.”
Hatton was relatively calm throughout the US Open at Oakmont, which is very surprising given how difficult the course played.
But it may just have shown him that a more relaxed approach is the way forward, with aggression taken out on his shots as opposed to the course and the clubs themselves.
