The US Open reached a dramatic conclusion at Oakmont Country Club, where J.J. Spaun secured his first major championship win.
Basketball star Caitlin Clark couldn’t believe the conditions at Oakmont, with the final round having been delayed by 90 minutes due to rain.
But it was Spaun who edged out a handful of players upon returning to the course, winning the US Open on one-under.
Oakmont made a few mistakes for the latest edition of the US Open, but Spaun dealt with the issues better than everyone else in the field to secure an unforgettable win.
He holed a 64-foot putt to post a birdie on the 18th and win by two shots ahead of Robert MacIntyre, with Viktor Hovland finishing a further shot back in third.

Rich Beem names two golfers suffering most after US Open final round
A three-way tie meanwhile was played out for fourth place between Tyrrell Hatton, Cameron Young and Carlos Ortiz, who all finished on three-over.
Among those watching the dramatic action unfold in Pennsylvania was Rich Beem, who was asked on Sky Sports Golf for which golfer he thought walked away from Oakmont with the most pain.

He responded: “I would initially think that Tyrrell would just because of the fact he bogeyed 17 and then 18 as well.
“You have to think that after the birdie at the 10th hole Sam Burns also felt like he had it and then all of a sudden the very next hole he makes double and does not really bounce back from there. I would think that Sam Burns is going to be pretty deflated and defeated this evening.”

J.J. Spaun and Tyrrell Hatton experience contrasting ends to US Open at Oakmont
Hatton was certainly in contention for his maiden major championship title at the US Open, along with his fellow LIV Golf player Ortiz.
But the Englishman endured a nightmare finish to an otherwise superb final round, carding back-to-back bogeys at the very end.
That was in stark contrast to champion Spaun, who turned his early misfortunes around to post back-to-back birdies.
Needing to par the last to secure the title, the American instead produced one of the best putts in US Open history.
Burns was also a candidate for a first major championship win, but he ultimately had to settle for a tie for seventh.
The American can, however, hold his head high after a fantastic tournament, in which he finished on four-over alongside multiple major winners Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm.
Spaun, Burns, MacIntyre and others in and around the top also deserve huge praise for their tournaments given the long list of high-profile names who didn’t even make the cut.
Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson all missed out on the weekend at Oakmont, along with defending champion Bryson DeChambeau.
