Ben Griffin’s success has been one of the biggest talking points in the 2025 PGA Tour season.

The 29-year-old had never won on the Tour before this year, and he’s now already a multiple-time champion.

Griffin won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Andrew Novak, as well as the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The American also finished in the top 10 at the US Open and the PGA Championship in his breakout season.

Griffin has now shared the biggest lesson he has learned about winning PGA Tour events that he will take with him into next year.

Ben Griffin shares his biggest lesson on winning PGA Tour events

Ben Griffin was not a generational talent, like Rory McIlroy, who was always expected to win tournaments on the biggest stage.

Griffin has developed from an unknown professional into a world-class player through a lot of hard work in recent years.

Speaking after round three of the World Wide Technology Championship, he explained how his mental approach towards winning events has changed.

“The biggest thing about winning that I’ve learned? You’ve got to be aggressive the entire time,” Griffin explained. “No lead is really safe, especially at a course like this where the 18th hole guys are making eagles or have a chance to.

“I know that if I have a two- or three-shot lead, it’s not necessarily safe. I’ve got to stay pretty aggressive. I’ve seen crazy things happen in the past at Tour events where guys hole-out shots or guys make an eagle on the last, and all of a sudden, someone might have thought they had a good chance of winning, and then they’re going to a playoff or whatnot.

“I’ve got to be extremely aggressive but smart and steady. The wind can pick up out here a little bit, so keeping the ball in front of me as much as possible is important, and yeah, just got to stay aggressive and hopefully shoot a low enough one.”

Ben Griffin knew he would be a multiple PGA Tour event-winner

Griffin is an entertaining character, to say the least, because he is not short of confidence in his ability to win the biggest prizes.

He revealed that he always expected to win again soon after his debut PGA Tour victory at the Zurich Classic.

“I knew it was going to kind of build some confidence in me,” Griffin said. “You see so many guys out here win, and then they go on a little run and they win a couple of times.

“I knew that was going to happen with me. I just had that belief. It’s not like a cocky belief, but it’s just one of those things you have to have out here.”

However, Griffin admitted that his expectations were much lower five years ago and realizes that he must not take his position for granted.

“But yeah, going back five years ago, I’d just be happy to be on the PGA Tour,” he continued. “But now I’ve gotten to the point where my game is pretty strong, and I feel very confident against a lot of these guys.

“I’ve got to go out there and continue to prove it week in and week out because there are a lot of really talented players, and you’ve got to make a lot of birdies and play good to win.”
