Rickie Fowler has won six times on the PGA Tour throughout his career but it’s fair to say he has never fulfilled his outstanding potential.
When Fowler burst onto the PGA Tour scene back in 2009, many predicted a really bright future in the game for the young man from Murrieta, California.
However, 16 years later he is still yet to win a major and hasn’t won anywhere near as many PGA Tour events as he would have liked.
He has slipped down to 79th in the world rankings, after once being ranked as high as fourth back in 2016.
Fowler is still a big name on the PGA Tour and receives plenty of invites to the biggest events on the schedule.

However, Fowler hasn’t even received an invite to the Hero World Challenge next month, and that’s a sign of how far he has fallen.
Back in 2015, he was voted as the PGA Tour’s most overrated player by his fellow pros, and that would have really hurt his pride.
What Rickie Fowler did after being voted the PGA Tour’s most overrated player
Sports Illustrated conducted an anonymous PGA Tour player survey 10 years ago.
Fowler topped the list with 24% of the votes, but what he did next was truly admirable.
The results of the voting were released the day before the final round of The Players Championships at TPC Sawgrass.
Fowler went into the final round on seven-under par, three shots adrift of the leader, Chris Kirk.
However, a superb final round of 67 saw him force a playoff with Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner, after he made four birdies and an eagle over his final six holes.

Fowler and Kisner finished at one-under par for the three-hole playoff, with Garcia being eliminated. He then birdied the 17th in a sudden death head-to-head with Kisner.
What an incredible response that was from the 36-year-old American, after being labeled as the most overrated golfer on the PGA Tour.
That victory would have tasted so very sweet.
What Rickie Fowler said after his Players Championship victory
Fowler spoke to reporters after his win at Sawgrass, and he made it very clear that he belongs at the very top of the game.
“It’s amazing,” Fowler said. “We obviously look at this as one of the biggest tournaments we play, up against the majors.
“This is a special week, everyone looks forward to it and I was just happy that I had a chance after my finish this afternoon to get into the play-off and to be here on 17 and get it done.
“Unfortunately I did not play as well as I wanted to on Saturday here but we finished it off strong and proved to myself we’re back where I should be.“
Ian Poulter, who was also voted as the most overrated golfer on the PGA Tour alongside Fowler, took to X and posted a sarcastic comment aimed at the poll conducted by Sports Illustrated.
He said: “Totally overrated finish from Rickie Fowler … Nice playing mate. Impressive.“
The win was a great response from Fowler, as was the message on social media from Poulter!
