Grant Horvat has become a very popular figure in the golfing world, offering advice and collaborating with several world-class players.

Horvat has been invited to play on the PGA Tour, such is the YouTuber’s talent and indeed pull on the golf course.

Tackling an iconic course was among his latest feats, with Horvat shooting 78 at Quail Hollow, host of the 2025 PGA Championship.

Horvat carded a seven-over par round at the venue, where Scottie Scheffler won the PGA Championship on 11-under.

The PGA Tour now turns its attention to The Memorial Tournament this week, the latest Signature Event in the calendar, with Virginia up next for LIV Golf next month.

Grant Horvat shares advice for those just starting out in golf

But Horvat has been busy sharing insight into his journey on social media, having taken to X to send detailed advice to those just starting out in golf.

He wrote: “I wanted to take a moment to talk about my early stages in golf and hopefully this helps someone out there getting into the game.

“This video is from 2013, around one year into golf and I was shooting mid-low 90s. My Dad was a teaching pro so the fundamentals came easy.

“However, all my friends at the time played since they were five years old and I felt a ton of pressure trying to “catch up”.

“Golf never seemed to come easy for myself. I struggled really bad for 2-3 years before I saw any true progress. I was never a “natural” at the game.

“At this time, my main goal was to play college golf so a lot of progress needed to take place. So, we moved to Florida as a family for my dad’s job and that’s when everything changed.

“I began to practice each day for 3-5 hours. I realized since I wasn’t a natural, I had to work harder than everyone.

“My scores began to drop into the 70s consistently after 3-4 years of playing. When I started seeing these results I got even more motivated.

“To play in college I needed to be posting low scores in competitive junior tournaments. These environments I believe took my game even to another level.

“I began shooting in the low 70s and 60s on a consistent basis. Getting to this point easily took five years of grinding, while some of my friends it took 2-3 years.

“I did end up playing four years of D2 college golf and posted a lot of scores I’m super proud of. My overall point is people progress at different speeds in this game.

“I realize not everyone can practice five hours a day. But if you haven’t seen results right away, or even years into the game, never give up. Something might click and everything could change!”

Grant Horvat shares what ‘clicked’ for him during his years of hard work

Horvat’s fine advice certainly didn’t end there, with the YouTuber having then been asked what it was that ‘clicked’ for him during his hard work.

He replied to the fan’s question on X, saying: “Honestly just playing more golf. I feel like you have to experience all the elements of the game to truly get better.”

The American also provided further words of encouragement, having been told it was hard to believe that he played so late in his youth despite his dad being a teaching pro.

Horvat responded simply: “Yeah, never liked golf as a kid,” and the rest, as they say, is history for one of the biggest names in the golfing world.

The 26-year-old has over one million subscribers on YouTube, and has collaborated with various high-profile names.

Players to have joined Horvat on his social media channel include Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm among others.
