Michael Kim and Peter Finch tell Grant Horvat what he should do after getting PGA Tour sponsor invite

Grant Horvat has taken the YouTube golfing world by storm, with the American also a hugely popular figure in and around the PGA Tour.

Just last month, Horvat was unsure about accepting a PGA Tour sponsor invite, having made the comment after winning the Creator Classic.

Taking on nine holes with nine other content creators at TPC Sawgrass before the Players Championship got underway, Horvat was the player to come out on top.

Horvat dedicated his Creator Classic win to Rory McIlroy, who incidentally went on to triumph at the Players Championship.

The former was perhaps expecting a PGA Tour sponsor invite to go his way at some point, a scenario that has now played out.

After being invited to play at the Barracuda Championship in Reno, Nevada later this year, Horvat wrote on X: “I got invited to play a PGA Tour event. Truly on the fence, should I play?”

And among those reacting were Peter Finch and Michael Kim, with the former saying: “Nothing to lose my friend.”

The latter meanwhile, who just finished T27 at The Masters at Augusta National, said: “If you want to play, you should play.

“It’s a sponsor invite and any person or maybe even tour pro that wants to tell you that you’re taking a spot or you should ‘earn it’ is total BS.”

He was quick to issue a response to his fellow American, with Horvat commenting: “Thanks Michael, respect.”

It is certainly an intriguing situation that Horvat finds himself in, with many fans certain to enjoy watching the talented YouTuber.

At the same time, however, he may damage his reputation with a nightmare display, but he could further it by impressing.

Moreover, there is the issue that one-time PGA Tour winner Kim alluded to, whereby a player who missed out because of Horvat could be left furious.

The PGA Tour meanwhile clearly feel it will only be positive for them after handing out the invite, having just enjoyed Horvat steal the show at TPC Sawgrass, although he did also just participate in The Duels on LIV Golf.
