Pebble Beach is one of the most iconic golf courses on the planet, but not everyone who has played there appreciates it.

The PGA Tour players compete in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am every winter and seem to enjoy it. Rory McIlroy certainly did as he won the tournament a few months ago.

But some people believe that the course is possibly living off its excellent reputation more than its actual quality nowadays.

Famous YouTube golfer Grant Horvat weighed in on the debate based on his experience playing at Pebble Beach.

Grant Horvat shares opinion on Pebble Beach golf course

Horvat is lucky enough to have played at Pebble Beach before, and he revealed on Sunday, May 25, that he’s returning this week.

He explained on social media that he vehemently disagrees with the notion that Pebble Beach is “overrated” because of the course’s “views, history, and conditions.”

“Headed to play Pebble Beach for the 2nd time,” he tweeted on Saturday night. “This is the most excited I’ve been to play golf in a while.

“I was always told Pebble is overrated but I would completely disagree. The views, history, and conditions make it the best in the world. Thoughts on Pebble from people who have played it?”

Horvat has played many of the world’s top golf courses, from Augusta National to Quail Hollow, so it’s a huge compliment to Pebble Beach that he rates it so highly.

Wyndham Clark ranks Pebble Beach above Augusta National

Wyndham Clark won the third PGA Tour event of his career at the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, so the venue will always have a special place in his heart.

But the former US Open previously made an incredibly bold statement that the course is the “home of golf” in the United States, ahead of Augusta National.

“I mean, I was just talking about it on the radio show. I mean, outside of probably Augusta and St Andrews, there’s honestly… I would even put this place ahead of that,” Clark said.

“This is kind of one of the most iconic places, kind of the home of golf in the U.S., in my opinion. It’s my favourite place in the world.”

Clark’s love for Pebble Beach certainly backs up Horvat’s comments that the course is far from overrated.
