Despite several events remaining on the PGA Tour calendar, the end-of-season FedEx Cup playoffs will soon emerge into view.
The Wyndham Championship, which gets underway on August 8, is the last regular season tournament before the top 70 head to the St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind.
Those at the top of the current standings are taking a much-needed mid-season break ahead of The Scottish Open and Open, which will take centre stage in July.
However, several players are jostling for position in the FedEx Cup standings – and there are three former major winners with work to do ahead of the playoffs.

Gary Woodland

Gary Woodland, who clinched the US Open in 2019, currently sits 157th in the FedEx Cup standings and well outside the top 70.
The 40-year-old is competing at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic and is in desperate need of a top-five finish to bolster his playoff ambitions.
Woodland’s best finish this season came at the Valero Texas Open, where he tied for 21st.
A season-high finish is almost non-negotiable in Detroit this week if Woodland truly wants to feature at the St. Jude in August.
Adam Scott

2013 Masters winner Adam Scott is 67th in the current FedEx Cup standings but will have to perform well over the next month in order to cement his place in the top 70.
Recent signs have been slights better for the Australian after he finished in the top 15 at the Charles Schwab and made the cut at the US Open.
However, given he’s taking time off, the 43-year-old’s current ranking could come under real threat.
Justin Rose
Justin Rose is another former major winner who is battling to place himself in contention ahead of the final stretch of the PGA Tour season.
The 2013 US Open winner currently sits four spots outside the top 70 and failed to make up ground at last week’s Travelers Championship.
Recent performances also haven’t been particularly eye-catching after his missed cuts at the US Open and Memorial.
With a busy July coming up, the 43-year-old must up his game if he wants to make the St. Jude in August.
