Bryson DeChambeau has suggested aspects of YouTube golf prepared him for one shot he hit during his dramatic US Open victory at Pinehurst No.2.

The 30-year-old has been the talk of the golfing world in recent weeks after he claimed his second major title in North Carolina.

DeChambeau continued his impressive form with a T3 finish at LIV Golf’s Nashville event, which took place at The Grove last week.

Now, the big-hitting American has time off ahead of the Andalucia event and The Open Championship at Royal Troon.

DeChambeau has regularly been seen testing himself in unique YouTube challenges, whether that be with kids’ clubs or a hickory set.

Now, in Grant Horvat’s latest video, the American has claimed the “quirky” YouTube challenges prepared him for his impeded second shot on the 72nd hole at Pinehurst.

“Funny enough, I didn’t think it was going that far left,” said DeChambeau. “I thought it was going in the TIO area, and I was going to get some relief, and it would have been controversial, I am sure. But no, it didn’t. I hit off somebody’s belly area and shot over, left, and underneath the tree.”

He added: “The point being, though, is that it went into some root areas, and the tree was pretty much on top of me. What’s funny is I’ve done so many quirky challenges on YouTube that actually prepared me for that moment.”

Bryson DeChambeau at home in the YouTube world

DeChambeau appears to have found a home in the world of YouTube golf.

The American is regularly producing pretty engaging content and has also collaborated with several creators over the past couple of years.

Clearly, making videos has given the 30-year-old a platform to express who he truly is rather than being thrown in front of the media and ridiculed, as we saw during the early stages of his career.

DeChambeau certainly has YouTube to thank for his recent boom in popularity and the LIV Golf star will be hoping that this is only the beginning as his social media presence increases.
