Predictions
The Golfing Gazette writers predict who they think will walk away with the Rocket Mortgage Classic title and grand cash prize:
Sam Stone: “With several big names taking time off, the Rocket Mortgage Classic is Tom Kim’s time to shine. The Korean pushed Scottie Scheffler all the way at the Travelers and will fancy his chances of going again this week. Another low-scoring affair could see the 22-year-old thrive once more.”
Jordan Harris: “With many of the big guns sitting out this week, plenty of names will be sensing a fantastic opportunity to get a win. Someone who has already won this year is Taylor Pendrith, with the Canadian also finishing in the top 25 in seven of his last nine starts. A big week here could also boost his chances of qualifying automatically for the Presidents Cup in Canada later this year.”
Lee Connor: “The field is a bit wide open really given there’s some massive names not even playing. I’ve had to have a scan in fairness but I’m going to plump for Aaron Rai. He’s shown decent form in the last two months and he’s yet to win on the PGA Tour. I’m going with him to break his duck and make the most of a weakened field to take home his first win.”
