Scottie Scheffler is at it again it seems, after his totally dominant performance at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Those who suggested that Scheffler was not the same player this season have gone back into hiding after his CJ Cup Byron Nelson success.
Phil Mickelson actually took to X after Scheffler’s win on Sunday, and congratulated him, in what was an incredibly honourable move from the 54-year old following his awful prediction about the two-time Masters champion back in March.
Scheffler looked like his old self at TPC Craig Ranch, shooting four sensational rounds of 61, 63, 66 and 63 to win by eight shots.
And now, Scheffler sits in seventh spot on the all-time PGA Tour win percentage list. He will undoubtedly continue to climb those standings as time goes on.

It was exactly the kind of statement win and performance that the 28-year-old Texan needed ahead of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in 10 day’s time.
Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, who secured a win of his own this week in South Korea, would definitely have taken notice of Scheffler’s dominant display in McKinney, Texas.
Scottie Scheffler has made masterstroke decision ahead of the PGA Championship
Scheffler will be desperate to win the third major of his career at Quail Hollow next month.
It certainly won’t be easy for him to do that, with McIlroy and DeChambeau firing on all cylinders right now.
However, the 28-year-old Dallas native has made a big decision that should put him in prime position to get the job done in North Carolina next week.
Scheffler has decided to skip the Truist Championship, and that was a bold call considering the fact that it is a Signature Event.
However, the fact that he just won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson means that his decision to miss the event at The Philadelphia Cricket Club now looks like an inspired one.
Conversely to what Scheffler did last week by making a late commitment to play at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his week off now is just what he needs with his game in tip-top condition.
When you’re on top of your game in all departments, there’s nothing to be gained from playing another tournament really.
Sure, he could have easily gone out and won the Truist Championship this week, but what if he put in a slightly average performance?
Would his confidence then have been knocked?

Heading into the PGA Championship on the back of a win and a week off is the ideal preparation for Scheffler.
Scheffler has history on his side ahead of the PGA Championship
Scheffler is someone who prefers to take a week off to prepare before a major championship.
He had the week off before his triumph at Augusta National in 2022, and he did the same thing in 2024.
To the contrary, he won The Memorial the week before the US Open last year and ended up in a tie for 41st at Pinehurst.
The 28-year-old must have taken that fact into account when deciding to skip the Truist Championship.
Scheffler would undoubtedly have enjoyed a strong week at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, if he played there, but what if he didn’t?
What if he really struggled? That would obviously have wreaked havoc for Scheffler’s PGA Championship preparation.
Having decided to miss out on the signature event though, Scheffler will now head into Quail Hollow on the back of a victory with only positive thoughts.
