Scottie Scheffler won his 14th PGA Tour title at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Sunday.

Scheffler was quite simply irrepressible during the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and he won by an enormous eight-shot margin in the end.

Now the 28-year-old American is in familiar territory to the likes of the great Tiger Woods, the legendary Jack Nicklaus and recent Masters champion Rory McIlroy.

Phil Mickelson had to eat humble pie after Scheffler won at a canter around TPC Craig Ranch on Sunday.

Jordan Spieth highlighted how hard Scheffler will be to beat now after his final round at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

It was the two-time Masters champion’s first win of the year on the PGA Tour, and boy did he need that to kickstart his 2025 season.

17 PGA tour wins is enough to get inside the top 50 of all-time, and who would bet against Scheffler doing that before the 2025 season is finished?

When Scheffler is on, not many players can hang with him, if any at all.

He proved just how dominant he can be at TPC Craig Ranch this week by shooting rounds of 61, 63, 66 and 63.

He was unbeatable, it’s as simple as that.

So with 14 PGA Tour wins to his name now, where does he rank in the all-time list of best win percentages?

Well, he’s now seventh on the all-time list behind only Woods, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Nicklaus and McIlroy.

Winning at a clip of one in every 10 starts is quite something. He will have to go some to get anywhere near the likes of Woods, Hogan and Nelson.

However, he’s certainly on the right track.

Irrepressible Scheffler sends big statement to McIlroy with dominant win

McIlroy has been the standout player on the PGA Tour this season.

And that would have been hurting Scheffler, there’s no doubt about that.

However, perhaps McIlroy’s outstanding form in 2025 was exactly what the 28-year-old Texan needed to reach another level.

There’s nothing quite like being given that extra bit of motivation to succeed by one of your main rivals, in any walk of life.

And now McIlroy will be looking at Scheffler after his convincing win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson thinking that he needs to raise his levels once again.

2025 could end up being a truly sensational year of golf.
