Robert MacIntyre has had another week to remember on the PGA Tour, with a third career win on the cards at the BMW Championship.
MacIntyre bemoaned the ‘brutal’ pins at Caves Valley on day three of the BMW Championship, despite finishing top of the leaderboard.
He takes a four-shot lead into the final round of the latest FedExCup playoff event, having carded a two-under 68 on Saturday.
MacIntyre tops the pile on 16-under, followed by Scottie Scheffler on 12-under and Ludvig Aberg on 10-under.
A place at the Tour Championship is on the line for the top 30, while many American players are fighting for a spot at next month’s Ryder Cup.

Robert MacIntyre proves Ryder Cup worth after BMW Championship round three incident
The top six ranked American players following the BMW Championship will qualify for Bethpage Black, with the same situation playing out for Team Europe at next week’s Betfred British Masters.
But MacIntyre has already proven his worth for the team event in New York with his actions on day three of the latest PGA Tour event.
Paired with Scheffler for round three, MacIntyre holed a seven-foot par putt on the 14th hole after the American holed his effort.
MacIntyre ‘shushed’ the BMW Championship fans immediately after his successful shot, having received some shouts from the gallery beforehand.
The entire situation shows that the Scot is more than up for the task at Bethpage Black, where a hostile gallery can be expected for the visiting players all week.
Not only was MacIntyre able to deal with the pressure in the heat of the moment, which should please captain Luke Donald, but he was able to give it back to the fans.
Of course, his superb rounds of 62, 64 and 68 simply add to his cause, along with his previous record for Team Europe.
What is Robert MacIntyre’s record at the Ryder Cup?
MacIntyre only just made his Ryder Cup debut in Rome in 2023, where he helped Team Europe to a memorable victory.
And the Scot more than played his part, shining on debut after finishing third in the qualifying points list behind Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
He didn’t let the occasion get to him, finishing his week with a 2-0-1 record, which included a Sunday singles win over Wyndham Clark.
That display is another reason why he would be a fine asset for Donald at Bethpage Black, although it does seem very likely that the decision will be out of his hands.
