The major championship season has concluded with The Open Championship, with Scottie Scheffler the standout figure in 2025.
Scheffler won The Open and the PGA Championship, while Rory McIlroy won The Masters and J.J. Spaun won the US Open.
The predominantly American major championship winners could worry Luke Donald, who has a Ryder Cup on away soil on his mind.
And Scheffler will be among the home players looking to steal the prestigious trophy away from the hands of the Europeans, having already qualified for his side.
Bryson DeChambeau will play at the Ryder Cup for the United States as well, while McIlroy, like Scheffler, has qualified for Team Europe.

After winning The Open, Scheffler is fourth in the PGA Tour money list, with his current rival McIlroy among the players above him.
But the American was a class above the Northern Irishman and every other player who made every cut at all four major championships in 2025.

A total of 15 players achieved that feat, with Scheffler unsurprisingly boasting the best aggregate score of the lot.
He topped the pile on 32-under, with McIlroy second on the list on 11-under, while Xander Schauffele was third on 10-under.
And flying the flag for LIV Golf among the PGA Tour dominance was Jon Rahm, who posted an aggregate score of six-under.

While the major championship season may have concluded, golf fans can fortunately now look forward to the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
And fittingly, the leading major aggregate scorers this year were perfectly balanced between two American players and two Europeans.
That trend didn’t end there, with Harris English and Matt Fitzpatrick following the very high-profile names in the list.
English carded an aggregate score of five-under, while Fitzpatrick and indeed his fellow Englishman Tyrrell Hatton were among the only other players to finish under par, both on one-under.

Leader Scheffler was, however, in his own league this season, very much continuing from where he left off in 2024.
Four PGA Tour youngsters could challenge Scheffler, but it will take some doing to topple the formidable world number one.
