LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has become a household name since his PGA Tour debut in June 2015 as an amateur in the FedEx St Jude Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Since finishing in 45th place in that maiden tournament, Bryson DeChambeau has risen to number ten in the World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and has two major titles under his belt – both coming at the US Open.

His most recent major victory came in June this year at Pinehurst, North Carolina, where a gritty final round of 71 was enough to defeat Rory McIlroy by just a single stroke.

However, his second major trophy and year earnings of $6,274,167 might not be the biggest achievements of his golfing calendar year in 2024.

Bryson DeChambeau’s hole-in-one over his house challenge ends on day 16

YouTube golfing content is rapidly on the rise and DeChambeau has been a big part of the increase around social media golfing content, with YouTube star Rick Shiels full of praise for Bryson’s work.

DeChambeau has one of the most significant followings on YouTube alongside Rick Shiels and Grant Horvat yet, it is his new challenge that is causing a stir amongst his fans.

The world number ten’s latest challenge involves him attempting to hit a 104-yard hole-in-one over his Texas mansion with a pitching wedge from an artificial mat.

Beginning on 12th November, DeChambeau hits the number of balls correlating to the day of the challenge, therefore day one involves hitting one ball, day seven involves hitting seven balls and so on.

It was on day 16 that he finally succeeded – just look at this insane shot!

How Bryson DeChambeau made a hole in one over his own house

DeChambeau has numerous strokes of bad luck

The first few days of the challenge saw Bryson finding his range with his pitching wedge in hand, landing the ball consistently five to eight feet from the cup.

However, as the challenge has progressed, DeChambeau has had several strokes of bad luck with the golfing gods seemingly not on the American’s side.

Day 13 was the closest the LIV Golf star came to completing the incredible challenge when his ball bounced in the hole but then somehow squirmed back out to within a foot of the pin.

His run of ill fortune continued on Day 14 when his incredible accuracy actually hindered him from achieving his goal.

But it was on day 16 where Bryson DeChambeau finally hit the hole in one, which sparked wild celebrations from him and his team.

Bryson challenge grew in popularity and intrigue

It seemed that Bryson’s simple yet effective challenge gripped the golfing world with thousands of followers tuning into his social media network each day in order to see his progress. Peter Finch is also a fan of DeChambeau’s work.

It wouldn’t be the first time DeChambeau has attracted major attention on his social accounts after posting a round of golf with President Donald Trump just weeks before the US election.

DeChambeau’s charismatic style and attempt to bring his audience closer to the game of golf seem to be earning him many plaudits and a lot more support ahead of the new season.

Bryson DeChambeau’s year ahead

It may be some fun in the golfing off-season but no doubt the world number ten will be getting back into game mode ahead of arguably his most important season to date coming up.

2025 will see the big-hitting star trying to add to his two US Open titles with more major wins, the first chance of that being at The Masters at Augusta in April.

Then, all eyes will be on the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, New York in September, when Team USA try to wrestle back the prize from Team Europe.

Following his omission from the Presidents Cup team earlier this season, DeChambeau will be hoping to force his way onto Keegan Bradley’s team however Golf Channel pundit Rex Hoggard has suggested Bryson may not make the Ryder Cup event.

It will be interesting to see what goals Bryson can achieve on and off the course in the coming days, weeks and months.
