Jordan Spieth has endured his fair share of criticism throughout his time at the very highest level.

However, Spieth is one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour at the same time.

The 32-year-old has actually been woefully out of form over the past few years.

Spieth missed the Ryder Cup this year – the first team he hasn’t been a part of since 2012.

He is also without a win on the PGA Tour since April 2022, but he’s working very hard to get back inside the winner’s circle.

In fact, Spieth still has ambitions to regain the world number one spot, although he’s some way off that level right now.

The man from Dallas, Texas, will surely win again. It’s just a matter of when rather than if.

Until he returns to the summit of the game, he will be open to criticism from fans and journalists alike.

The player Jordan Spieth said receives the worst abuse on the PGA Tour

Spieth admitted himself back in 2022 that he has received plenty of criticism from fans to his face.

Do you think Jordan Spieth will be deserving of invites into the signature events in 2026?

He said: I’ve had people tell me I suck to my face for a long time, so I don’t, you know, I mean, nothing, you just kind of zone everything out.

However, there is one man who Spieth said gets it worse than anyone else.

Patrick Reed is somewhat of a divisive figure in the world of professional golf.

The 35-year-old Texan left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in 2022 but he is still very much portrayed as a villain by the media.

And that reputation manufactured by the media filters through to the fans.

Spieth explained that Reed receives more than his fair share of abuse out on the golf course, back when the 2018 Masters champion was competing on the PGA Tour.

He said: I feel like, as far as pairings go, I would say if you’re paired with Patrick you hear some of the worst stuff, Reed, not Cantlay, from the crowd.

Some may say that Reed has brought most of the abuse on himself, due to how he has behaved in the past.

Meanwhile, others will claim that the picture painted by the media about Reed’s personality is the main reason why he receives so much abuse from fans.

Bryson DeChambeau is another player who has been on the wrong end of heckling from golf fans in the past.

Jordan Spieth’s advice for Bryson DeChambeau about heckling from fans

The key when it comes to dealing with abuse from fans is to simply ignore it, according to Spieth.

The three-time major champion shared some advice that he gave DeChambeau back in 2022.

Spieth said: He (DeChambeau) mentioned it to me at one point and I said, ‘All anyone wants is a reaction and if you give it to them, it’s going to get worse.’ So it didn’t seem to bother him.

The PGA Tour star is absolutely correct with his comments there.

Most of the hecklers out on the golf course just want their 15 seconds of fame.

And if the top golfers in the world refuse to react, those who attend events simply to abuse players may well simply stop turning up one day.
