Jordan Spieth was one of the biggest omissions from Keegan Bradley’s United States Ryder Cup team.
Bradley’s decision to leave out the three-time major champion was not surprising but still significant.
It highlighted how much Spieth’s game has declined recently and that he needs to improve if he wants to represent his country again.
The 32-year-old has now opened up on missing the Ryder Cup for the first time since making his PGA Tour debut in 2013.

Jordan Spieth does not blame Keegan Bradley for Ryder Cup decision
Spieth had an underwhelming 2025 season on the PGA Tour after undergoing wrist surgery last year.
This meant he was never really in consideration for one of Bradley’s captain’s picks for Bethpage Black.
Jordan Spieth fitness update ahead of the 2026 PGA Tour season
Spieth admitted that he didn’t do enough to make the US Ryder Cup team, although it still hurt not to be involved.
It has also given him more motivation to work hard this offseason and return to the pinnacle of the sport in 2026.
“It was hard; I didn’t watch much at the beginning,” Spieth said. “I was trying to maybe get away for a little while, but I’d still pull up my phone and check out every match.
“Then on Sunday, we were actually traveling back to town, and I got to watch the singles, and it obviously got very exciting at the end.
“Watching my partner [Justin Thomas] roll in that big putt looked like it might continue a record comeback. It got really exciting there on Sunday, but it was a killer not being there.
“I had been a part of the previous five, and I didn’t expect to be there this year when the picks were coming out. I needed to do a little bit more this season.
“Missing that one lit a fire in me. I hit a lot of balls those few days when the tournament was going on, as I do when golf is being played and I’m not there. It was good. Maybe I needed it, a little humbling, and I got back to work.”

Jordan Spieth’s record at the Ryder Cup
Jordan Spieth’s Ryder Cup record is actually far more impressive than the win/loss column suggests.
He has lost one more match than he has won, but you must consider that the USA have lost in three of his five Ryder Cup appearances.
| Year | Matches | Wins | Losses | Halves | Points |
| 2014 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2.5 |
| 2016 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 2.5 |
| 2018 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 3 |
| 2021 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1.5 |
| 2023 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 |
| Total | 22 | 8 | 9 | 5 | 10.5 |
Spieth’s performance at the 2018 Ryder Cup in France, when he won three points, stands out the most because Europe dominated the event 17.5-10.5.
He clearly thrives under the pressure and would have been a big asset to Bradley’s team if he had been in better form.
