Jordan Spieth has spent far too long in the golfing wilderness now.
Spieth last won in 2022 at the RBC Heritage, and he has been stuck on 13 PGA Tour wins ever since then.
Despite his poor recent form, the 31-year-old is still a hugely popular figure amongst golf fans, and indeed his fellow pros.
Scottie Scheffler recently said he needs to learn from Spieth’s creativity around the greens.
That is quite the compliment from the world number one. Scheffler is currently in a whole different stratosphere to Spieth regarding their respective golf games.

Scheffler is on an upward trajectory and has been for three years now, while the exact opposite can be said for Spieth.
But can he rediscover his best stuff and challenge his good friend for golfing supremacy?
Jordan Spieth says if it’s possible to get back to world number one
Spieth has incredible talent. We have all seen him do remarkable things at key stages of major championships.
However, the fact that he hasn’t won one of golf’s four most prestigious prizes since 2017 tells us all we need to know about his drop-off in form.
The good news is that Spieth clearly hasn’t lost his motivation, nor his work ethic as he looks to climb back to the top of world golf.
Is getting back to world number one a realistic prospect for the 31-year-old American though?
He answered that question when speaking on The 5 Clubs podcast.
Spieth said, “Time management has been the biggest adjustment for me over the past couple of years, trying to make the most of what I have with my time on the course, because I want to get back and see them (his children). I feel like I have done a pretty good job of that. It’s nice being at places I have been for 12 or 13 years, where I know the golf courses and I don’t feel like I have to play 36 holes before the tournament starts. I still want to get out and do as much prep as I can to feel like I can win week to week. I want to make a charge back to top-10, top-5, even number one in the world.

“I have the runway to do so, I’m young enough to do so, I’m now healthy enough to feel like I can. At this stage of my life it’s still very much possible. My wife is unbelievable in taking care of our family and taking the show on the road, and allowing me to do what I love out here and setting things up to be as solid as they can be at home.”
Jordan Spieth’s 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 PGA Tour stats compared
Spieth underwent wrist surgery during the off-season, so he cannot afford to rush things. Results will come if he’s patient and continues to work hard.
Here is a look at Spieth’s numbers from the past 4 seasons on the PGA Tour:
| PGA Tour stats | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 38th | 59th | 15th | 30th |
| Strokes gained approach | 31st | 71st | 128th | 75th |
| Strokes gained putting | 155th | 79th | 101st | 69th |
| Strokes gained total | 30th | 38th | 80th | 22nd |
| Scoring average | 25th | 81st | 122nd | 37th |
Even in 2022 when he won, his putting statistics were extremely poor, and despite slight signs of improvement, he’s still nowhere near where he used to be.
Spieth’s driving has actually been fairly solid over the past few years, but his iron play has definitely let him down.
If he manages to find a way to tighten up his iron shots and his putting, he may well win again.
However, whether he can overtake Scheffler and become the world number one again is highly doubtful.
