Even though he was already a US Open winner, Wyndham Clark’s victory at Shinnecock Hills was mind-boggling.

Clark won the 2023 US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club with a one-shot advantage over Grand Slam champion Rory McIlroy.

The 32-year-old has since struggled in the major championships until he brought his A-game to Shinnecock Hills last week.

Clark’s second US Open success was not only incredible, but it also brings Tommy Fleetwood’s major record into focus.

How did you feel about the New York crowd’s treatment of Wyndham Clark?

Wyndham Clark’s major record puts Tommy Fleetwood’s struggles into perspective

Wyndham Clark has the most bizarre major record of any player in the world despite his two US Open titles.

Outside of his US Open victories in 2023 and 2026, Clark has only finished in the top 10 at a major once.

The American finished in a tie for fourth place at the 2025 Open Championship alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Haotong Li.

Those are Clark’s only three finishes in the top 30 at majors, with nine missed cuts in the last seven seasons.

Most major champions needed several opportunities to contend on Sundays for every one tournament they won.

Meanwhile, some unlucky golfers, such as Tommy Fleetwood, regularly contend at majors without getting over the line.

Fleetwood has eight top-10 major results, including two runner-ups, but he is still waiting for his first win.

Who are you most disappointed in?

Most would agree that the Englishman is a significantly better golfer than Clark, but his resume tells a different story.

Clark’s remarkable 67 percent conversion rate when finishing in the top 10 is nothing short of extraordinary.

He may not be a popular player among fans, but he deserves immense credit for his ability to close out opponents.

Meanwhile, as positive as Fleetwood is, he must feel frustrated watching Clark make winning majors look so much easier.

The European Ryder Cup star will now be under even more pressure at next month’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
