LIV Golf appear to be at a real crossroads in their development and their push to become a globally recognized tour.
When LIV Golf emerged onto the scene in 2022, there was talk of the Saudi-backed outfit bringing the PGA Tour to its knees.
That obviously hasn’t happened and three years down the line, those involved with LIV will be disappointed that they haven’t made a bigger impact on the world of professional golf.
As the PGA Tour’s popularity continues to rise, LIV appear to be at a complete standstill at best.
What PGA Tour players do you believe LIV Golf can realistically sign before the 2026 season?
And as a result, it has been claimed that a merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour will never happen.
The fact of the matter is that the PGA Tour do not need LIV one little bit right now.
Despite Greg Norman’s ludicrous claim that LIV do not need the PGA Tour, it’s obvious to see that the Saudi-backed outfit are struggling at the moment.
LIV risk losing their biggest stars after baffling decisions
With just over six weeks remaining until the start of the 2026 season, things are looking pretty bleak for LIV.
Rumors that Brooks Koepka wants to return to the PGA Tour began to circulate recently.
Meanwhile, LIV clearly don’t have the power to attract star names anymore.
Seemingly gone are the days of signing players like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
Instead, the Saudi-backed outfit are going down the route of trying to add experienced journeymen and younger players with high ceilings to their ranks.
They have already signed Victor Perez and Laurie Canter for the 2026 season.

However, LIV’s latest move to sign Max Greyserman, for an eight-figure fee by the way, is perhaps the blandest move they could have possibly made.
The 30-year-old from New Jersey doesn’t even have a PGA Tour win to his name and he’s hardly the kind of player who will sell tickets and help increase viewing numbers, is he?
Unless something changes quickly, LIV are at serious risk of losing some of their star names, if not all of them.
Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm can’t be happy with LIV’s trajectory
It’s fair to say that Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm are LIV’s two biggest stars right now.

They have a few more as well, in the form of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith and Joaquin Niemann.
However, DeChambeau and Rahm are the two biggest needle-movers on LIV’s books, by quite some distance as well.
Do you think Max Greyserman would be a good signing for LIV Golf?
Would LIV be right to part with an eight-figure sum to sign Max Greyserman?
The American and the Spaniard must be feeling pretty disillusioned regarding LIV Golf’s standing in the professional game right now.
LIV Golf have clearly been unable to attract star names from the PGA Tour during the off-season so far.
It’s not like they would have planned on the likes of Perez, Canter and Greyserman being their first signings.
Even the likes of Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im have supposedly turned down moves to join the Saudi-backed golf league.
If LIV cannot persuade mid-range PGA Tour players to join them, they have no chance of signing the very biggest stars.
With that in mind, the best strategy for them will be to sign younger, ultra-talented players and develop them into superstars.
However, the likes of DeChambeau and Rahm will surely not have the patience to wait around while that happens.
From the outside looking in, LIV Golf are in big trouble, and the PGA Tour powers that be must be loving every minute of it.
