Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in June 2022.

It’s fair to argue that DeChambeau is the only player who has actually improved as a golfer after joining LIV Golf.

The American, 32, has finished inside the top-10 in six of the last eight major championships, including his win at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst and two runner-up finishes at the PGA Championship.

In addition to that, DeChambeau’s popularity has increased exponentially since he left the PGA Tour to join LIV.

Do you think LIV would survive if Bryson DeChambeau returned to the PGA Tour?

“I think I think Bryson is a star in he’s an amazing golfer.

“He’s also amazing for what he does off the golf course, in that, you know, the bulk of his consumption where people see him is on YouTube, by the way. I mean, they don’t see him on television because the other league doesn’t really draw a lot of viewers.

“Yeah, I think everybody wants to see the best golfers compete. But I will say, there’s a complete misconception about the sport of golf that I think is that any given tournament or competition matters, if there’s the same three or four people in it.

“You want to see the same three or four people in it, but if you look at the depth of talent of the PGA Tour, that competitive parity aspect of it is unrivalled, and there’s no tour on Earth that has the deeper amount of talent than the PGA Tour has. And every sport has stars, but what really makes sports work is also the middle class.“

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp’s comments on Bryson DeChambeau

The two-time US Open champion has dipped his toes into YouTube content creation and he has excelled in that market.

DeChambeau has captivated golfing audiences with his explosive power off the tee, and the way in which he has made himself more accessible to golf fans has been impressive to witness.

The next step for him will be to start winning major championships more regularly.

As well as that, the golfing superstar now has a real opportunity to earn an astronomical payday, if he plays his cards right.

Bryson DeChambeau now holds the power and could earn a huge payday

DeChambeau is in a position now whereby he can essentially hold LIV Golf to ransom.

Brooks Koepka has officially left LIV Golf and it feels like the Saudi-backed outfit is on the ropes right now.

DeChambeau is LIV’s standout superstar and it’s hard to envisage a scenario how they could survive without him.

It’s worth remembering that the two-time major champion’s current contract with LIV expires at the end of the 2026 season.

LIV Golf absolutely cannot risk losing DeChambeau after Koepka’s exit.

The American leaving the Saudi-backed outfit would be the death knell for them.

The powers that be over at the PGA Tour will be licking their lips right now, with LIV Golf on the ropes and quite obviously in a really weak position.

This is where DeChambeau needs to take advantage. He should be going to the LIV hierarchy demanding a truly huge payday in order to extend his contract.

And LIV will not have a leg to stand on. If they refuse, they will risk losing the one man who is capable of carrying them forward in the post-Koepka era.

Bryson DeChambeau is LIV Golf. Without him, they will have a really hard time surviving, let alone thriving.

LIV Golf do not have a problem paying out extortionate fees, with the public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia backing them.

Now is the time for them to flex their financial muscles to an extent that perhaps hasn’t been seen before.

What Bryson DeChambeau said about signing a new contract with LIV

DeChambeau has insisted that he is open to signing a new deal with LIV.

However, worryingly for the Saudi-backed league, he has never fully committed to the fact that he definitely will do.

Is this the end of LIV Golf?

DeChambeau just provided a new update regarding where his future may lie, when speaking to Flushing It on X.

“I mean, look, it’s confidential, DeChambeau explained.

I’m not going to share too much, but the conversations are in process. We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another.

He went on to suggest that a deal is getting closer, though.

DeChambeau said: It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides, and I think that can happen, but you never know.

Until he has put pen-to-paper on a new deal, the LIV Golf hierarchy will not be able to relax.

Playing Devil’s advocate somewhat, could the holdup to DeChambeau committing to LIV be due to Koepka’s recent exit?

Nobody knows for sure but it’s fair to argue that the future of LIV Golf rests solely on DeChambeau’s shoulders right now.
