The brand new series of Full Swing is just days away from release, and Rory McIlroy is set to star once more.
McIlroy is one of 12 professionals definitely set to feature in series three, and the four-time major winner’s up-and-down 2024 will no doubt be an important storyline.
The Northern Irishman was front-and-centre of the first series of Full Swing and was the main character in episode eight. The season finale documented the 2022 Open Championship at St Andrews in the midst of LIV Golf’s emergence into the professional scene.
McIlroy, of course, was one of LIV’s biggest cynics during the league’s infancy.
What Tony Finau said about Rory McIlroy in Full Swing series one

During the first season of the hit Netflix show, Tony Finau actually discussed McIlroy’s “opinionated” nature in the wake of the professional game becoming splintered.
“I have known Rory for a lot longer than most guys and most people understand. We met when we were eight years old. He has always been a very kind-hearted, genuine person. I think that hasn’t changed,” Finau said.
“He is opinionated, but I have to say that I agree with most of the things that he says. I think he is great for our game.”
Tony Finau’s rumoured LIV Golf move
Given his opinionated nature, McIlroy would’ve had a view on Finau had the Salt Lake City native decided to join LIV Golf during the 2024 off-season.
Finau was reportedly set to sing for LIV back in September before seemingly performing a last-minute U-turn. Once Finau confirmed his participation at the season-opening Sentry tournament, the speculation died down.
Instead, McIlroy’s compatriot Tom McKibbin joined Legion XIII on the Saudi-backed golfing venture, a move McIlroy warned against.
The four-time major winner said: “I really like Tom as a person, as a player. I think he’s got a tonne of potential. I said to him: ‘If I were in your shoes, I would make a different choice than the one you’re thinking of making.’”
