Scottie Scheffler is already the red-hot favourite to win The US Open at Oakmont next month.

Scheffler won the PGA Championship on Sunday at Quail Hollow, and now his attention will firmly be on winning the US Open at Oakmont in June.

The 28-year-old American is the most in-form golfer on the planet, having won the last two tournaments he has played in.

Scheffler won the PGA Championship despite suffering a blow before the tournament had even begun.

The Dallas native’s driver was deemed to be non-conforming, and he had to swap out his so-called ‘gamer’ with a newer model.

However, that wasn’t enough to stop a rampant Scheffler from winning his third major championship.

Scheffler’s father praised his son’s toughness after he won the PGA Championship, and that mental fortitude is what makes him so hard to beat.

That mental strength will come in very handy indeed for the third major of the year at Oakmont next month.

Scheffler is clearly in imperious form right now.

It would take a brave man to bet against him making it two major wins on the bounce up in Pennsylvania next month.

The likes of Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm will already be thinking that Scheffler might just be unbeatable in the big events this season.

He didn’t even have his ‘A’ game at Quail Hollow after all.

And now, Scheffler’s rivals will be wincing after it emerged that the three-time major champion did something very special indeed at the US Open at Oakmont in 2016.

A teenage Scheffler holding the clubhouse lead at one point during the first round of a US Open when he was an amateur is quite audacious.

However, the one bit of good news for his rivals is that he posted a second-round 78 and missed the cut by one.

Scheffler now has a chance to make 2025 a historic year

With two wins now safely tucked away, including a major championship, Scheffler will have his sights set on dominating world golf during the remainder of the 2025 season.

A couple more wins for Scheffler, and another major, would see 2025 go down as one of the great years in golfing history, and he’s more than capable of getting it done.

His game is perfectly set up to succeed at Oakmont and Royal Portrush.

And it would actually be a huge shock if he didn’t win at least one of them, that’s how good he is.

Scheffler’s win at the PGA Championship was very timely indeed. After McIlroy’s start to 2025, the American knew that he needed to make a big statement.

And two wins including a record-setting score at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and a major championship triumph in back-to-back starts is exactly what he needed.
