YouTube golf personality Peter Finch is the latest big name to share his thoughts on the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
Controversy has shrouded next September’s event on Long Island after organisers announced extortionate ticket prices.
Spectators will be set back $750 to attend the weekend matches, and volunteers will be charged $350 to work at the event.
YouTube star Rick Shiels has slammed the pricing, and Finch has now delivered his verdict on next September’s showdown between Europe and the United States.
Peter Finch drops verdict on 2025 Ryder Cup crowds

Speaking on the latest edition of the Rough Cut Podcast, Finch initially tackled the ticket pricing issue.
“Being sensitive and being balanced, that is an absolute disgrace,” Finch said. “It’s a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s not only that, but tickets for the final practice session, which is the opening ceremony, some celebrity matches, and the Junior Ryder Cup. That is $430 for a practice day.
“This isn’t including drinks, food, travel, accommodation. If you want to go to the Ryder Cup, personally, if I went to that, I don’t know if I would be able to enjoy it fully, as I would be like, I am spending so much money here. I want to relax and get a beer and some food because the beer is going to be like $15 for a pint.”
The Englishman then revealed that players on both teams “sense” the crowds will be unlike anything experienced at a Ryder Cup.
Finch continued: “I was worried about this Ryder Cup anyway because of the location and because we know New York fans can be rowdy. I have a feeling that because the US really want to win this one, I think that could be taken over the edge. There’s a real difference between passionate golf fans having fun and passionate golf fans going over the edge.”
“Speaking to players on both teams, by the way, they have the sense that this could be right on the edge of what we would expect from a golf tournament.”
USA captain Keegan Bradley also anticipates a fierce atmosphere as he looks to maintain his side’s formidable record on home soil.
Europe must deal with intense USA atmosphere at Bethpage Black
The potential hostility set to welcome Luke Donald’s side at Bethpage could well come in response to the treatment of Patrick Cantlay during the 2023 event in Rome.
The American was ridiculed for refusing to wear a hat during any of his matches. Cantlay was allegedly protesting against the Ryder Cup’s commercial gain while remaining unpaid.
Interestingly, after the extortionate ticket prices were announced, many will be far more sympathetic to Cantlay’s stance.
Regardless, those in New York will be desperate for the Ryder Cup to return to the US, and the partisan home support will play a vital role.
A boisterous atmosphere will greet Donald’s side, and hopefully, those in attendance at Bethpage won’t overstep the mark.
