Anticipation is building ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black as Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald get set to lock horns in New York.
The USA selectors shocked the golfing world by choosing Bradley as captain. The 38-year-old wasn’t the first choice, however; It’s believed Tiger Woods turned down the opportunity.
Bradley was the first person to explain his shock at being named captain after the selectors opted to go down a very different route from what had gone before.
A boisterous New York crowd will welcome the world’s best players to Bethpage, and golf commentator Smylie Kaufman has shared what Bradley anticipates happening at the Long Island venue.
Keegan Bradley anticipates ‘crazy’ crowd at Bethpage Black

Speaking during the latest edition of the Smylie Show live from the St. Jude Championship, Kaufman revealed that Bradley is already anticipating a “crazy” atmosphere at the famous US course.
“I’d spoken to Keegan just briefly just about him getting picked and the logistics of the Ryder Cup,” said Kaufman. “How much beer is being served? I was like, man, are they serving liquor there? But it’s just in the suites. If they gave liquor to the crowd, you would have an issue.
He added: “We were already talking in advance about the New York crowds and how crazy that’s going to be for the Ryder Cup.”

Considering Bethpage Black is one of the most revered golf courses on the planet, it should have hosted more prestigious events.
Two US Opens, in 2002 and 2009, have been held at Bethpage. Furthermore, the 2019 PGA Championship was also held on Long Island.
During the ten years between the 2009 US Open and the 2019 PGA Championship, two PGA Tour playoff events took place: 2012 and 2016.
Given the stature of Bethpage, making the New York venue a regular fixture either on the PGA Championship or US Open rota could be a smart move.
The course’s difficulty is well-known around the world and could easily be toughened up enough to provide a stern test for the world’s best players.
