PGA Tour players have placed a demand upon LIV Golf star Jon Rahm as talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund continue.
14 months have passed since the framework agreement was announced. The alliance would reportedly see the PIF plough $1 billion into the PGA Tour.
The latest round of talks occurred last week in New York City, as officials attempted to finally reach an agreement.
The PGA Tour is optimistic that progress has been made. However, time will tell whether the latest negotiations are yet another false dawn.
PGA Tour players outline Jon Rahm LIV Golf demand

One of the critical issues centres around LIV players returning to the PGA Tour. Those who stayed loyal and turned down the millions offered by the Saudi-backed venture feel they’re due compensation.
The latest report from Bloomberg has delved further into the issue. Jon Rahm was LIV’s highest-profile signing, and it’s believed PGA Tour players have placed demands on the two-time major winner should he one day return to golf’s traditional circuit.
“A particular sticking point is Jon Rahm’s reported $300 million LIV contract, struck late last year, the people said, asking not to be named discussing private information,” the report shared.
“Some PGA Tour players want Rahm — and others — to hand back money they’ve made from LIV, the people said. Other options include paying fines to participate in events, giving to charity, or agreeing to forfeit any future career winnings on the PGA Tour, the people said.”
The PGA Tour and PIF could be near conclusion
The details of last week’s talks have remained somewhat confidential, although murmurings of positive news have emerged.
Golf Channel pundit Rex Hoggard says positive steps have been made. Furthermore, Bloomberg’s report suggests that the “financial details” have inched closer.
There’s still plenty of work required to finalize this deal, but the latest news is certainly a step in the right direction when compared to the stalemate in recent months.
Ending the current standoff is the only way forward before the 2025 PGA Tour season starts at The Sentry in four months.
